Sharpy has no clue about Nissan reliability, sorry.

The 05 Altima wasn't available with CVT, so you drove a traditional automatic.

Yes, Nissan automatics tend to shift a bit aggressively, but are among the best-built automatic transmissions in the import world.

It's a wise idea to add an aftermarket warranty to ANY newer car if you plan on keeping it beyond the factory warranty.

Here's some more info on the Altima, and the warranty! :)

I have an 02 2.5S and an 03 3.5SE.

Although the newer Altimas have had some quirks (fixed by recalls and TSB) you really can't go wrong with a Nissan Altima.
I guess it depends how hard the Altima is shifting. You want to look for hesitation in the shift or a hard jerking shift. A smooth and solid shift is typically not a problem.

If it has the CVT transmission in it you will not feel it shifting unless it has a "sport mode" which simulates the shifting feel. You can also buy an extended new car warranty if you are worried about the trans going out at 36001.

HI THERE, I HAVE A 2004 SILVER
NISSAN ALTIMA AND I LOVE IT!!!

DID YOU KNOW THAT IT'S ON THE TOP OF THE CONSUMMERS LIST OF BEST CARS TO BUY?

TOYOTA, NISSANS, HAYNDA'S AND
TOP OF THE LINE !
I HAVE HAD AMERICAN MADE CARS
AND THEY JUST DON'T DRIVE, SOUND, FEEL AS GREAT.
GET SOMEONE YOU KNOW TO CHECK OUT THE CONDITION OF THIS CAR BEFORE YOU BUY IT. A MACANIC IS BEST.

GOOD LUCK,

Nissans aren't reliable so I wouldn't buy one.
