I have a Compaq Presario that came preloaded with Symantec Tools & Antivirus. You might want to check your applications and see if you have a preloaded software that will help you run the scandisk.

just right-click the local drive that you wanted to scan and choose Properties and then choose the Tools tab. There you can use error-checking option to scan your disk.

If it's similar to XP, they did away with scan disk. Try typing in "CHKDSK" (without the quotes) from a command prompt.

START > RUN > cleanmgr.
Then Give Ok .
It Will Ask For Files To Clean You Select Which Files To Be Cleaned And Give Ok. . .
