Luckily I'm a DJ and I can give some good input on this...
Dependent on the song, choose from this list. Look at each of the lyrics and remember some of them! It's nice when you can lip sing some of the important phrases when dancing; most will say it's sexy! Also look at lyrics to fit the occassion.
1. Toni Braxton - Unbreak my Heart
2. Boys II Men - I Can Love You Like That
3. Luther Vandross - Here and Now
4. Eva Cassidy - Time after Time
I find the Eva Cassidy to be the sweetest song ever in terms of lyrics... heart melts! Toni Braxton may fit your ex scenario... and the Boys II Men and Luther Vandross ones usually fit all occassions.
Good Luck!

Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism (which leads right into) Death Cab for Cutie - Passenger Seat.
I swear that is the best answer you'll see here.
Wait... are we thinking of the same type of "dancing"?

Otis Redding's "I've been loving you too long to stop now"
It's old school, but there's all kinds of yearnin' and burnin' going on.
