me and my fiance are having an argument on what the parts of the artichoke are. we've come to agree that the heart is the inner leaves above the choke but we can't agree on whether the top part is called the crown or the bottom or something else entirely.

The heart is the area that you clean the leaves off of that is still attached to the stem.

The crown is at the top, of course! I like to cut it off before cooking. The heart is NOT the inner leaves above the inedible choke; the heart is below the choke and above the stem!

Bottom to top : you start with the stem, on top of the stem, the inner bulb is the heart, topped by the fuzzy choke. Everything above the choke is called the crown. So, any leaves are part of the crown.

Bythis sentance it looks like the crown is at the bottom of the plant

the crown of the artichoke is in the centre of all the layer of tough leaves . They are tender and is not full of legnin.

Top - crown includes the trimmed external portion of the choke.
