The CD player in my car quit working recently, so I'm thinking about buying a new one that they advertise as installing for free at Best Buy or Circuit City. I'm just curious what brand(s) would be best to get and what qualities or characteristics I should look for to get one that's high quality, not too expensive, and I can pop in and out myself (so I can reuse it in another car if need be). I'd appreciate any information also regarding what a good price would be and possibly exact models that you'd recommend. Thanks a lot!!

I've used many stereo's in the past. I've owned all brands that are listed above and all were decent. I like Alpine, Kenwood, and JVC the best. I'd go to your local Circuit City or Car Stereo Shop and listen to them, see what features you like the best and make your decision from there. It really is a matter of personal taste. Then for the best prices go here...

Well i would recommend a pioneer head unit or kenwood both are very high quality and durable. As far as the prices the pioneer radios are between 145-230 depending on the style you want. But personally i would order one off the internet trus me you will save more money tha you would best buy or circuit city. Good luck i hoped i help you in some kind of way.

I would go check them out in the store, they usually have a pretty comprehensive display. I'm not partial to any brand really but Alpine is always highly recommended. Also while the units with the motorized faces that flip out and do cool **** look cool - often times they break easily.

im strongly against pioneer, im a firm believer in kenwood, regardless of the type of kenwood you are gaurenteed to get good quality, and you can find a kenwood for maybe 150 if you dont want to go big money spendding, but you get the same sound quality as big dollar kenwood products, now thats something you dont get with pioneer, and besides, lookin at the name kenwood, looks better for all your friends to see, cause if you have seen 1 pioneer you have seen them all

ok, go with pioneer or eclipse for a head unit, if ur not using a sub or anything, then their cheapest ones will be fine, they both make very hi quality units for a great price, circuit city has great deals on pioneers, i use a pioneer head in my car, and i have 8k in components for my stereo
