My friend just found out that her boyfriend lied to her about his age. She's 21 and he said he was 20 but recently he confessed that he's only 19 soon to be 20. She's worried because he should not have lied in the beginning. She wonders what else he has lied about. He told her that he lied because he really liked her and didn't want to be rejected because he was too young. Supposedly he wanted to tell her before but it was the holidays and they had just started dating. She wants to know what she should do. Suggestions

If she loves him regardless of his age, they should be able to work things out. But if she thinks that trust is going to be a big issue between them, she should end things. You should always have trust in a relationship.

It was a small lie and his explanation for it was reasonable. I wouldn't blame your friend for worrying that he may be lying about other things (or may continue to lie in the future), but if I were her I would stick around. She should talk to him about it further and make sure that they establish a solid connection before she places all of her trust in him.

He didn't want her to reject him, so he told her he was a few months older than he really was; not a big deal in my opinion.

A guy that lies about his age will lie about anything move on. He just wanted .... what guys want and thought by dating an older woman that he had a better chance of getting it. Sounds like very young very yucky pond scum. I would kick him to the curb and walk away quickly.

Well in my opinion, she should wonder what else he is lying about. If he could lie about something so stupid and small, I would be worried to. She should just end it unless she wants to keep finding out what he lies about.

I don't see how it should be a big deal. I mean, he said he was a few months older than he actually was, right?

I think she shouldnt risk being with him, because once a liar always a liar....well that's usually always been the case.
