Here are a few suggestions:

*Drink water before you eat a meal or snack. This helps reduce cravings after you eat because it makes you fuller, therefore you'll eat less.

*Chew on some gum. Keep your mind busy so you don't think about your stomach craving other junk food.

*When you get a craving, eat ONE Hershey's kiss. Suck on it, savor the sweetness.

*A cheating way out, talk to your doctor about getting on prescription diet pills. I had the SAME problem your having, not being able to control cravings. He prescribed me a diet pill drug called Meridia. It cut down my portion size and is specifically made to help cut down portion/cravings. I lost weight on this drug because it made me full every time I ate, while cutting my meal portions in half. There isn't any bad side effects unlike phen phen (sp).

Drink ice water not diet soda, W A T E R with a little lemon is good!!!! Brush your teeth, instead of sitting there struggling and battling with yourself, get up and do something to get your mind off of the food. I think your mouth is probably hungry not your stomach. There is a difference, you need to distinguish which of the two hungers you actually have before you reach for the first bite. If your not that strong willed then go ahead take two bites of what ever it is just to satisfy that urge then go about your business. That should be a plan you could live with. Nobody is perfect and you should not try to put yourself on a miserable diet you know you will fail at. Make it realistic just cut everything in 1/2. Wait 20 min. you'll be just as full as if you ate the whole thing. PROMISE... Eat stuff you like or you will hate it so bad you'll cheat and then just give up. If you do have a weak moment SO WHAT!!! Your only human get right back in the groove it's OK!!! Just remember portions are the secret. You can loose but it will be slow slow slow with out some walking about 3 or 4 miles a week just to keep it livable, It takes about 15 minutes to walk a mile. thats 15 minutes a day 3 or 4 times a week! Think about it. DIET SMIET, just think before you stick it in your mouth!!! You can do it!!!!

I'm not sure you can eliminate all of your food cravings especially at the beginning of a diet, however, something that really helps is to drink lots of water. Sometimes you can think you are hungry when really all you need is a large drink of water. Also try chewing gum. It puts flavor in your mouth and may help you forget about the taste you are craving. Hope this helps whether I get the 10 points or not.

What kind of diet are you doing? Go low on Carbohydrates, and drink WATER everytime you have the craving. Water will fill you up, plus you will flash out poison = Fat out of your system which helps loose weight FAST. Find a high quality clinically independently tested B-12 vitamin supplement. You wont find it in Grocery store, GNC or vitamin shop. I recommend a company Shaklee. Or simply do their weight management program which is clinically proven, published in medical journal and completely safe and accurate. It offers unconditional life time guarantee with no red tape. By the way, cheating is good. You do a good diet for 6 days, give a reward to yourself on the 7th day by "cheating". Also, If you are on proper diet program, you would not have the craving to cheat. These "nice" greasy sweet tasty food would became SICK to your stomach~! You are not alone, and you can do it!

This may sound crazy and I didn't believe it when I first heard it but I tried it and it actually worked. Instead of starving yourself (which sucks), eat 5-6 small meals a day that are well balanced. (breakfast, snack#1, lunch, snack #2, dinner, snack #3) and workout 5-6 days a week and have a free day (one day out of the week where you eat ALL of your favorite food)... it works!

Check out Body-For-Life by Bill Phillips. It really cuts down on your cravings because you get one day to indulge and trust me, after you indulge, you can't wait to start back eating right the next 6 days.

Don't diet (in that way where you try to go without food). Try to always be conscious of what you eat. Start with something small, like sultanas/raisins. Take one, bite off bit by bit or chew very slowly, being aware of the sensations, the texture, the taste in your mouth. Swallow slowly. Try to do this with all your food, and you'll find that you eat much less, which will result in weight loss. We go into auto-mode when we eat now that we don't even experience the fun of eating like we should, and gobble everything down. Food will taste much better as well. Trying to go without food for long periods of time will just make you eat more! It does to me. I go a whole day without eating cos I'm busy with classes, then I get home and eat 2-3 meals in one go, shoving it down my throat!!
Diets don't work :/ If they work for you....it won't last long or it will result in poor health. Chew gum as well. Keeps your mouth busy hehe.

If you are on a protein diet, eat some eggs or nuts (they are sooo filling compared to carbs.) Chew on some celery, I know this still constitutes eating, but you burn more calories chewing the celery than you ingest from it. Drink lots of water to keep your belly full, and lastly, although this is terrible advice, smoke. Good luck with your diet and remember that to err is human, so don't beat yourself up if you get off track now and then.

Brush your teeth...sounds crazy but food never tastes as good right after you brush your teeth and something about it helps kill my appetite. Drinking a big glass of water is also very helpful. Go take a walk and get away from the temptation.

PS...If all else fails and you must eat...eat some negative calorie foods (like celery)

Best of luck!!! Hang in there, you can do it!!!

When I have a food cravings, I usually drink a huge glass of water, brush my teeth or go for a walk. It usually passes after 10 minutes. Sometimes you're just thirsty and the water usually satisfies you. And who wants to eat after you're minty fresh? If anything, call someone who's supportive of you're weight loss. Good luck! :-)

You have to keep your mind busy. Usually, the cravings come from boredom. Find something to do. Clean.. do a hobby.. move furniture. It's all about keeping your mind off of unnecessary eating/binging. good luck.;-)
