What kinds of files have you been trying to burn? Mp3, wma, etc? You can use Real player to burn, and if you use Nero cd burner, it will do the job automatically, where any kind of music players will work. There are a lot of other softwares which can help you. But Nero it's one the best!!
If you don't have Nero, then download Real player for free at
WWW.realplayer.com
I hope this helps you~

In my opinion the best software to burn CDs/DVDs is Ashampoo Burning. It's a free software and it can be downloaded here: http://j.mp/1lAUPPa

If you want to make a DVD that will work on a common DVD player, you definitely need a burning software. Copying the movie as is directly to a new DVD it's not the right way to do it (If you do so your DVD player will not be able to play the video/movie properly).
The most reliable DVD burning program I used it Ashampoo Burning. It works with all types of videos and music (both with DVDs and CDs). Ashampoo is a very modern and professional software (you can also edit videos and create DVD menus)

you can try use other cd -rom burning software like "Nero cd burner".."CD ripper"..."SUPER CD" etc. Those are softwares particulerly for CD writing tasks. BUT your cd rom drive have to be Read/Write type (generally labed "CD-RW combo") .Contact your pc saler or service provider to confirm.

use nero, its much more easier to use.

and after you burned the cd, always pick audio cd, so that you could play it in players.
