Well, the first thing you have to decide, is just what you want to do.
Then you determine which service is the best.
If you want to work on B-2 Stealth Bombers, then the Air Force would be the best and only choice.
If you wanted to be a Submariner, then the Navy would be the best and only choice.
If you wanted to work on an Apache Helicopter, then the Army would be your best and only choice.
If you wanted to make Amphibious Assaults, then the Marines would be your best and only choice.
.
If more than one service has the field you want to do, then you have to think about what else is important to you.
Generally :
The Navy and Marines deploy or visit more countries.
The Army and Air Force have more troops permanently stationed in foreign countries.
The Army and Marines are more likely to be deployed to a combat zone.
Basic/Boot is more a mental issue than a physical issue.
And should not effect what Branch of the Military you decide to enter. After all, your only going to be there a short time.
I personaly would rank the Esprit De Corps of the Branch's :
1. Marines
2. Army
3. Navy
4. Air Force
Thats an overall rating, there are units and jobs in each service that would have higher or lower ratings.

The simplest motive you'll ought to pass in your FMF (Fleet Marine Force) pin is in case you become a member of the Navy and your price is HM, that's a Corpsman for a Marine Unit. That method you've got the risk of going to the sandbox OR the ocean, relying on wherein your unit is deployed. Get your GED/Diploma first, and work out what style of profession could curiosity you. ANd comply with it. THere are many numerous locations with the entire branches of the army, so do your study earlier than you pick.

There is a certain espirit de corps in the Marines, I don't know how basc is now, in the 70's Parris Island was a very serious place to be for 12 weeks. My brother was army in the 80's, their boot camp was of a different planet compared to Marine Boot Camp. Marines come out of Boot some motivated folks for sure and it pretty much is like that the whole time you are in. From the halls of montezuma to the shores of tripoli, we will fight our country's battles in the air on land and sea...we will fight for right and freedom and to keep our honor clean, we are proud to claim teh title of united states marines...30 yrs ago and it's 1:20 am and I still remember the marine corp hymn...that should tell u something.

If you want a real job and all the adventure that you could ever want, the join the Air Force, go to Air Traffic Controller school, and then select to become a Combat Controller. I can assure you that it will be the most grueling training that you ever encounter. They are better than the Marines, or anyone else in the armed services. Provided of course that you are not afraid of heights. One of the first places these guys go to is Ft. Benning for jump school. Yes, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes is a part of what they do. Sometimes, after a lot of training, that first step is at 30,000 ft, but not at first. If you decide to go, be sure that you can do at least 40 push ups on a slow count. If you can do push ups with 1 arm, either arm, all the better. Can you run with a pack on your back of at least 50 pounds for a mile? Can you do 40 chin ups on a slow count? Can you do 100 sit ups in 3 minutes. If so, go for it. If not train first because these are requirements that you will face either in the Marines, or the Combat Controllers.

Well said LCpl!
Marines are the Few and the Proud and teach Courage, Honor and Committment. My son joined the Marines because he said he wanted to join the Elite! When he came out of Boot Camp---which by the way for the Marines is 12 hard, intense weeks which is culmunated with a feat called The Crucible--he was a completely changed man. I went to his Graduation and I was amazed at the different young man standing before me.
It's your choice, but for my son there was only one choice for him.
Amy--from one Marine mom to another--Ooorah!

Well to tell you I knew some marines that were worked with me. I used to be in the Navy. Some tell me that it is really hard to make rank. How determined are you into physical fitness and shooting and training. That right there determines your next rank. I knew marines that were in for 4 to 5 years and made corporal. Thats why they get out. If you are smart then you should go to the Navy. You can gain rank just by studying. You can be retarded but ace the test and congrats your in the next rank. you can be an E-5 in the navy the same in the marines in less years and all you have to do is study. Its just how i saw things when i was in.

Easy. If you're not "driven" to be a United States Marine, then you'll probably be happier in another branch. My son knew he wanted to be a Marine when he was in middle school. Nothing could change his mind, either about enlisting or that he was meant to be a Marine. That's why they're called the Few, the Proud.
Oh... and, by the way... in the USMC, it's called BOOT camp, not basic...

First of all the Marines is a great choice especially if you like to fight. I was raised saving lives via Civil Air Patrol and not wanting to go to sunny Southeast Asia and kill people and since the local draft board sent me a letter telling me that they were taking my birthday away, cause I won the lottery I joined the US Coast Guard. I had 7 saves when I joined and 32 assists. I had 37 saves and 253 assists when my tour was up. So decide what is important to you and go for it. If it is combat Marines is the best choice.

The Marines have a better quality of life and experience in the Forces. They are well respected as our Paras and other Specialists. However thats not to say others arent good. Depends what you are looking for in the job. Most jobs in the Forces are challenging. If your fit and willing for a superb challenge go for it and if you dont like it you can always transfer to another Arm. Have fun.

I am a former Marine, and I can say with confadence that it was definantly the best thing I have ever done. It is different in that we hold ourselfs a bit higher on standards. Basic is mostly a mind game, though its not easy. Physically demanding as it may be, the hardest part for most is the mind game.
