I just found out that my step-son and his girlfriend are about to have a baby. They had a shotgun wedding today, and I didn't even get a chance to participate. I don't know how to do a baby shower. And I sure don't know how to be a Grandma. Any advice is most welcomed.

Baby showers are easy-- congratulations!!! and being a grandma is as easy as making a pie-- I sure hope you bake-- anyway- if you want a quick shower- make the invitations yourself- go to AC MOORE or Michaels- you can have it at your home if you have a small family or if someone belongs to the VFW, you can rent the hall for dirt cheap and you can either have everyone assigned a covered dish or if you love to cook like me, just start cooking the lasagnas, meatballs, cookies and cakes and start freezing them. They like to play crazy baby shower games but the new mother to be may not be into that- most of them aren't so don't push it, let her friends be in charge of the entertainment- and don't forget to make a punch- no liquor just sherbert and fruit juice- it's a nice touch..........congratulations on both!!!

If you love the child, all that will come to you. What's a good grandma?
1. Love and lots of it
2. Spend time with the child.
3. Shows affection
4. Proud
5. Helpful
6. Dependable
7. Talk about the child's accomplishments no matter how small they are.
8. Teaches the child things. ABC's, songs, patticake, etc

Well, I guess that's it in a nutshell. Good luck!

You have the greatest job of all. At least that is what my mom always says. You get to skip right to the spoiling and then send them home part. Usually you have to go through raising your own kids to get there.

Just have fun with it. Coo at the baby a lot and then send it home.

Being the grandparent is pretty easy. You get to spoil the kid and not have to worry about it. You can offer to babysit every so often. Try to do fun things with the kid(like the zoo). Just roll with it...

Deep breaths. And when you find yourself in a house filled with screaming children think of it as the sound of life.
