It depends. If it is only a month or two, it is just reactivated. Depending on the state or province, you may be able to reactivate it up to 3 years after without a test, assuming there is nothing on your record to warrant you being called in for a test, like a conviction for driving without a licence.

No, you only retake the test if you've gotten a ticket in between the time your license was issued to the time it expires.

There is a grace period for renewing so it will depend on where you live how long you have to renew your d/l. Where I live it is 5 years but that's is going to vary from place to place. You have to check with DMV where you live to know for sure but a simple expired d/l does not automatically mean retesting.

Not at all just go to the DMV and get a new liscense made. You just have to get a new picture taken and a new liscense thats all.
