Right now I'm paying between $300-$400 in monthly prescriptions without insurance. But I'll only be needing these prescriptions for less than a year. My dad is paying for my doctor visits, also without insurance, and I'm sure it's denting his wallet. I need to visit my doctor once a month or so until my problem is fixed. I basically want short term insurance, but what's the benefits? What kind of company should I go for? I searched online for sure clues but I just get confused. I'm wary of actually going and talking to somebody because there are a lot of people out there waiting to take advantage of an 18 year old female that's looking to spend money. Help!! I have no clue!!

If you are paying $300 to $400 per month then you need to get health insurance quick. You can get a policy for 1/2 to 1/4 of that amount that provides exceptional coverage. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

You can possibly get insurance but it will most likely cost a lot more than $300 or $400 hundred a month, there will be a deductible of maybe $500 to $2,000 dollars and it will not cover a pre-existing condition; so it will not pay for your treatments.

So, you need insurance but it won't cover your current condition.

Well, insurance isn't going to take care of a pre-existing problem - so "short term" health insurance is fine, but it's not going to pay your CURRENT bills.

The best way to get it, is through your employer. The SECOND best way, is through a local, independent agent, who can explain the different plans and benefit payouts to you.
