...or does he want to impress us all with his limited knowledge of obscure passages taken out of context? I wonder why one as secure in his belief as he claims to be, is bent on disproving Christianity, what does he care what "fantasy" I believe in? What I know (not believe) will give me and any who decide, eternal life. What you claim leads only to death... I choose life, if I'm wrong, I'm no worse off than you, but if I'm right... what a complete waste of space you have allowed yourself to be.

Funaholic... that's a great logic, we'll let the athiests get all the jabs they want in and we'll just not stand up for God. Sorry, it's not in me to let the psuedo intellectual get away with it.

People concern themselves with Christianity and other religions because they cannot be avoided to today's society.

This is especially true of Christianity. Christians are forcing Christian doctrine into politics, which is why it becomes the issue of many Atheists.

Pascal's Wager arguments are incredibly weak. "What if" statements don't mean much in arguments and this case is no different. Not to mention, your perception of the choices is inherently biased towards your understanding of the religion.

If what I claim is true, then you are worse off because you have squandered your life following a set of illogical set of rules for things such as stem cell research and homosexuality, while following the valuable ones.

You've unecessarily constrained your life and caused unecessary suffering to others for nothing.

If what you claim is true, then I am in fact better off than you, since I haven't been serving a tyrant deity.

Another perspective to think about for your variation on Pascal's Wager...

Militant Atheist is a wives tale. So far religion has incited more wars than, wait, how many wars has an Atheist incited?

NONE

The most arrogant Atheist seems to be Dawkings. But, he is a renowned scientist. So his ideas should not be taken lightly, regardless how pompous he is.

regardless of such rhetoric, here is my "Militant Atheist Diatribe":

Ready? Here goes (warning, requires thought):

If we are so complicated that a God had to create us, then isn't the creation of a god that much more complicated? I mean come on!!! This is basic logic!

I did not know that atheists could be militant. I thought that was the prerogative and history of the religious. I have never heard of atheists persecuting the religious for their superstitions. Most atheists are willing to leave the ignorant alone unless they are threatened with things like the inquisition or other such tortures.
BTW, do Christians still believe in miracles and that the earth is the center of the universe?

Why are passages from the Bible untrue when taken out of context? Christians are quoting passages from the bible constantly taken out of context. What exactly do you call a militant Atheist? Someone that you are afraid will kick your butt. So you admit you believe in fantasy. You have wrapped yourself so tightly inside your cocoon of secure ignorance in fear of losing your la la land of imaginary eternity. If your security blanket slips you will be lost. Careful before your fantasy Boogie Man Satan jumps out and bites your butt.

i detect a little hostility in your words there. you should do something to vent that pent up repression. start a cult or something!

i suppose that we are constantly trying to disprove Christianity because i it contradicts so many things that we know to be fact.

the difference between you and me is a simple one. you only have one point of reference, i tired old book that can only be interpreted in so many ways.

i on the other hand have a whole world of scientific knowledge and discovery at my disposal to disrpove what you think you know.

unfortunately this is not my knowledge as i am not all knowing, but i have access to it you understand as i am willing to learn more, as you are content with what you know.

who is the more ignorant?

i

Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions!!

I agree that one should not try to force their opinions or beliefs upon you.

Why there has to be conflict over this is beyond me...you believe what you believe...why can't we all just get a long??

No more so than a fundamentalist Christian. What is interesting is that both seem to think it is their duty to educate the other. I wonder when people are going to just live their lives and let others do likewise.

Peace!

Pascals wager with a little ''I'm being opressed'' thrown it. Smart Atheist's aren't bent on disproving Christianty. We are bent on forcing you to prove Christianity. And of course you can't and depend on name calling and propaganda.

You are wrong about that. If this god is as loving as Christians claim, he will surely take atheists into heaven even though they defied his existence. If not he's an a$s hole who isn't worth spending eternity with.
