Depends on the current hookups and the settings in your TV. If you're using standard AV, then yes, It should be. It's best to get the HDMI if possible though.

SOME COMPONENT inputs on TVs are not necessarily 1080/720.....OLDER sets have the Component input but only use the 480 line signal.

With that said....is your TV NEWER than 2001?
Does it have the >>HD<< logo pasted on the front of the TV?
That should be a HD COMPONENT input......

If you're using the OLD 3 wire or RF cable jacks beforehand, you will see an improvement in video quality....but if your SOURCE (game, dvd) is only 480 output, you'll get a better.....but not drastically BETTER picture.....

THE REAL IMPROVEMENT is when you go from a 480i signal to a TRUE 1080i HI DEF signal......
AND you have TRUE 1080 INPUT connections on your TV......
AND YOUR GAME is developed for HD on your PS 3......

It depends on what cables you are already using. If you are using the HDMI cable than you already have the clearest graphics possible. If you are not/can not use the HDMI than yes component cables are your best option for improved clarity.
