Humans need to justify their lives, and their deaths. This is why EVERYONE believes in something. Its not overrated, its just the way it is.

my opinion is that i dont think being spiritual is overrated but the fact that some religions are pushing people into believing that a certain religion is best is. I really get pissed when religious groups or people tell you if you dont view things in a certain way then youre going to hell or purgatory or whatever never ending torture they believe in. I really give credit to those who accept all religions and spiritualities and who are not predjudice to them.

I view it like the phony spiritualist John Edwards saying I'm giving comfort and closure to families. It is selfish money making arrogance that claims that someone knows what everyone needs to feel comfort. Christianity wouldn't be where it is if they didn't try to put the so called "fear of god" into people. Fear, loneliness, love, hate, and very human mistakes, Christianity capitalizes on it all.

No, just as faith in our fellow man is not overrated. People believe in all sorts of things to get us through the day. Some of us believe we are great drivers, good lovers, good listeners, good with money - and many of us are wrong, but the belief gets us through the day. Some of us believe that all people are basically good and some people believe that all people are basically bad. For each person, their belief reminds them to pay attention to certain things and it works for most individuals.

Peace!

Not at all. But you talk of believing like it is believing in something that doesn't exist. God is real and he does miracles in the lives of his children. He comforts them and takes care of them. There is a lot of comfort in having the true Living God by your side day and night..

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Non-believer's case:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's case:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

I never needed comfort before I was saved. It wasnt like, oh no, I need comfort. God found me having fun, living with my boyfriend, partying, clubbing ect. I realized it was wrong and repented and God accepted me :)

When you receive Christ, his peace is shed abroad in your heart. This is comfort!
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

No. but I wouldn't want to just exist. wouldn't that offend you if you couldn't have a place for your soul to rest. The graveyard doesn't sound enticing and yet depressing.
