I always sleep talk! I hate it. I dont mind sleep talking. It's me minding what I say while I'm sleep talking! This is bad when I'm not sleeping by myself. I tend to be a mean sleep talker, if thats possible. And I dont mean what I say (people have told what I've said). Anyway the main question I wanted to ask is: How do I stop sleep talking? Is it a phase? Will I grow out of it? I've been sleep talking for as long as I can remember! Or am I doomed forever?
Thnx!

Somniloquy also known as Sleeptalking.
I have a friend who used to be a sleep talker.
I'm not sure if yours will go away but you can take steps to get rid of it. try these suggestions:
-You need to get plenty of sleep. 6-8hrs.of sleep for an adult is good enough but I once read an article that getting 10hrs and a half sleep will provide a complete physical tune up.
-Don't eat a heavy meal right before bedtime allow about an hour for your stomech to process your meal before going to bed.
-Relax, leave your thoughts behind. Sleep talking is percieved by our brain from embedded thoughts. Read books or magazines to get yourself sleepy. My friend is some sort of push over. so while asleep he once said "just take whatever you want". I guess that came from somewhere behind his head.
Lastly,
-If you can ask someone to help you. ask somebody to slightly wake you whenever you make any sound just enough for your sleep talking to quit.

It all boils down to your lifestyle; the way you sleep.
Sweetdreams!

As a former sleepwalker...(I used to wake up to dirt on my bare feet and scratches and cuts from walking oblivious to my lack of shoes) I would have to say that there are simple things to stopping the threat and danger of sleepwalking. Multiple locks on doors sometimes will help as the only times I actually left the house was during the summer when there was only the screen door. As to the talking...that is perfectly normal and there isn't much a guy or girl can do short of duct tape well placed on the lips. Seems that would hurt though.

You should get out of the saying bad things so you do not say anything bad. Good Luck!

take time before you fall asleep to think about your day, how it went, what tomorrow may be like, etc. calm your nerves.
but most importantly allow yourself enough time for REM sleep, it's important. give your mind a break from day to day activities. and i doubt you are doomed forever.
