were they in a plastic tub ??? always buy olives in glass jars, that way there is NO mold growing for a month or two.
(plastic lets everything in...and besides they're packed by dirty hands, not clean machines...)

RE:
Do refrigerated olives spoil?
I purchased a couple of olives at Whole Foods, and I've had them in the fridge for about 2 weeks. I recently ate one and then noticed that the rest were beginning to develop white specks throughout the skin. Does that mean they're bad, since I picked them from the deli? Help

They will eventually go bad as long as they have any exposure to air. The white specks may be mold, hon. I've accidentally let some get pushed to the back and they've molded on me.
Bed, Bath and Beyond sells those vacuum seal machines for food preservation. They're worth it. Vacuum sealing really extends the shelf life of food... even refrigerator shelf life!
Peace.

I buy olive oil when it is on special, in huge amounts. I use small quantities of it all the time, and it has never gone rancid for me. I don't refrigerate, I keep it on a high (and dark) shelf. Hope it helped!

White specks is usually the start of mold. Throw them away and start buying them out of a glass jar. They HAVE to be refrigerated after you open them and will keep for several months.

olives will never go bad even if they are kept out of the fridge if you put them in a jar with some vinegar, water and oil to cover them, try adding a clove of garlic or two (make holes in them to bring out the taste and aroma or split them), wait a couple of days, delicious :)
