If you find yourself losing focus, how do you get back on track?

Two interesting responses so far, thanks. I'm intrigued by the notion that I might be suffering from a personality disorder, and by the potential value of identifying and striving for an external object(ive).

I don't smoke pot or take drugs.

First of all, you should try to find the source of this demon. You have described several symptoms or behaviours. One of these, the dissociation (which can also be described by the term "derealisation"), is particularly a red flag. Because of this, in addition to "losing focus," on top of which you find yourself discouraged, I suggest you seek counseling at the very least. The counselor will tell you whether your problem needs the attention of a psychologist/psychiatrist. Once you find the cause of your malady, you can fight it, and probably alleviate if not eliminate it. Maybe it's not even a medical condition. Whatever you do every day, put all of your energy into it. Do not let yourself sit around. Help others. Never be idle, and find purpose.
