Well it is your wedding first of all so what you want should go. What do your family members mean by something more comfortable - I hope they aren't going to change into jeans and trackies?!
I suppose if your gown has a long train or is very wide and would get in the way you could change. But you can get dresses with removable trains and skirts so you can pair them down for a reception.

Otherwise I wouldn't bother. You only get to wear this dress once so make the most of it!

It's ur choice whatever makes u comfortable!! I was married in the JP & wore my wedding dress (it was made for winter weather & it had long sleeves it was my god sister's she was married in February I was married in July) after the our wedding I changed into a summer dress. When we renew our vows & have our big wedding I will be wearing my wedding dress for the wedding & then I am having my sister-in-law make me another dress for the reception. I will wear the wedding dress for 30 to 45 minutes of the reception so people can take pictures then I will be changing into my other dress. They are both white but my second or reception dress is smaller & it only has about an 18 inch or 2 ft train but same material as my wedding dress!!!! I hope this helps!!!!

In my opinion, the wedding party, since it is your wedding, should stay dressed for the evening for you. But if you are okay with that, they can change. But you only get to wear that gorgeous dress once. Get the most of it and be the "bride" all night. I don't think anyone will feel underdressed just because the bride stays the bride! It IS a wedding reception.

I am going to wear my dress for the first dance and cutting of the cake for sure. I know I am changing into a more comfortable dress or something cause you really can't dance all that good in a wedding dress.

No, you shouldn't change; you only get married once and you spent good money on your dress. Wear it for as long as you can.

As for your guests changing. How long is the average wedding reception? 5 hours!!! Come on, your guests can't even be dressed in formal wear for a short 5 hours. I think it's somewhat disrespectful for them to change into casual clothing for a wedding reception.

I would put a stop to this all together. A wedding is a formal event, unless you are holding it in the backyard.

Alot of brides complain about the hassle a wedding gown can be during a reception. It's hard for them to dance and they have to constantly watch their dress so it doesnt get spilled or stepped on. I think an evening gown, if formal enough, is a great idea.

HECK NO!!!! This is YOUR day! Don't dress down for the occasion. These people are here to see and celebrate YOU. Changing out of your dress detracts from the spectacle. You spent a lot of money on that dress and not to mention a lot of time planning the wedding as well. Plus there will be photographers, you won't want to look back in 20 years and have people ask if you were a bridesmaid. You deserve to wear it for the rest of the day. I wouldn't change out of it, that's just me. Remember you and your fiance are King and Queen for the day.

If your dress is fitted properly you should be comfortable at the reception, however get a lacy pair of slipper socks with non skid soles because your feet will get very tired in heels..

Keep your shoes handy for pics of the garter being removed but while standing in the receiving lline use the slippers your feet will thank you..

I would bring a dress to change into, and decide if I wanted to change into for the reception when the time comes...no need to stress about it now.

I look at it like this...You only get to wear your wedding gown one day, so I wanted to wear it for the entire day until I got back to my hotel and changed into my beautiful wedding night lingerie. I wouldn't care if my guests changed, but I'd stay in my gown.
