I'm getting married this October. My parents divorced when I was 5, and my relationship with my dad has not been really close. We like a lot of the same music, and when he would pick me up or drop me off on Sunday, he would always play the Doobie Brothers. While I know there aren't a lot of popular slow songs by them, are there any songs of the rock genre that would be a good one for a father/daughter dance? I want to compile a list and talk to my dad about it. Please note the artist with the song title. Thank you!

Man, your story sounds SO familiar... My parents split when I was 3 and me and my dad were never close. I got married in Nov. of 2005 and me and my dad danced to this horribly cheezy song that my step mom and little sister picked out. It was awful. There is a beautiful song by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus called Your Gaurdian Angel... it is beautiful but it gets kind of hard in the middle but check it out anyway. You will love it I promise...
I know this is old school REALLY old school but Unchained Melody from Rightous Brothers, and Louis Armstrong What a wonderful world, Theres a song from Iron & Wine called the Trapeze Singer that is pretty... Iris from Goo Goo Dolls... Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight is what my husband says he will dance with my daughter with at her wedding (she is only 19 months old) Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in love with you.. Creed With Arms wide Open AND lastly my husband and I danced to Aerosmith's Don't want to miss a thing

GooD LucK!

I'd recommend Landslide - it's probably the most appropriate for your situation and a pretty song as well. I really love Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix. Here's the lyrics:

Well shes walking through the clouds
With a circus mind thats running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
Thats all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.

When Im sad, she comes to me
With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free
Its alright she says its alright
Take anything you want from me, anything
Anything.

Fly on little wing,
Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing
