If you plan to leave the subwoofer outside for any considerable period of time you will want to get one that is weatherproof. You do not say what you consider to be affordable so I have provided links below to three options. Bass diffuses into the environment pretty quickly outside. If good bass is important to you I strongly recommend the Boston Acoustics sub. For many years Boston's outdoor speakers have outperformed the competition to a higher degree than their indoor speakers have. The other two options are good for the money.

Any sub that's made well will do it's job.I have said before it is a waste of money to have a sub inside a room to hear it properly because the wavelength of frequencies bellow 40 HZ are longer than most room dimensions. What you actually hear is a part of the sound wave reinforced many times by the walls and ceiling of the room.A 20 HZ note has a wavelength of around 56 feet long. It will work better outside because it has open space to develop . This is my opinion only and others may disagree .So i will leave it up to you to decide .I hope this has been of some help to you.Good luck.Rob.

well one major issue is a sub designed or your average living room is not really meant to play outside.
think of your living room as a box with a sub inside, your sound pressure level (amount of bass you hear qill be dependant on that room size etc ) when you move that sub outside your room size is now unlimited. that room being unlimited means your sub has to work super hard to create any sound pressure. think of any outside concerts you have seen - they have stacks of horn loaded woofers to generate any usable sub frequencies outside.

if you do really need it outside describe aht you want to do
