It is, because it has software compatibility issues. If you have installed Vista Enterprise, Business, or Ultimate (not Home Premium or Home Basic), you can download and install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and use Add/Remove Programs to install software from a CD or floppy on the Virtual PC. MS Virtual PC is free, and it is the same as Windows XP Professional. It will run any software XP will run.
My advise? Just don't waste your time and money on a brand new OS like Vista. Wait a couple of years before you buy it, or at least until a service pack is released.

Because it just came out so there are the usual 1000 bugs that have to be worked out. The one's who think it's great are the ones that are either stuck with it, or are the smart ones who know how to fix the bugs. Personally I don't like the security that's built in. But that's me...I didn't get XP until the windows forum finally agreed it was now ok (after service pack 2) before you upgrade watch the forum at www.microsoft.com and see what issues have come up and if they were resolved. I haven't gone to IE 7 yet because the forum's questions are not all being resolved yet.

I've been running it long before it came out in the stores when it was in beta testing and I've never had a problem with it.
in fact I like it quite much. the only thing I had to do extra was update my printer driver. easy enuogh.
