Not really, the weight requirements are there for a reason. This surgery is for the morbidly obese. For a person not in that category the amount of weight that would be loss would have them in an anorexic state. Morbid obesity must be documented for a minimum of two years. Past medical history should show documentation of serious attempts at weight loss through organized and supervised programs.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and weight loss following a lapband procedure is a long-term commitment and that includes having good eating habits. You may be better served working with a dietitian and a trainer to get you where you want to be.

Your insurance company would probably require you to have a BMI of 40. BUT, if you have only a 35 BMI, you could probably qualify if you had a few "comorbidities".. like, diabetes, high blood pressure, GERD, Arthritis in the knees or feet, urinary incontinence, and the like....any weight related health issues.
Find a good doctor. and also go to www.obesityhelp.com.
When you log on, it will help you find out what your BMI is, and there is SO MUCH info on there, before and after pics, you can read other peoples stories, and get doctor and insurance info. Good luck.

I think you should really try to use only will power and no medical treatments because after surgery it will not work unless you have will power. So many examples of this:
1. some people actually had their jaws wired shut to lose weight but without will power they melt ice cream and suck it with a straw.
2. People suck out fat but the remaining fat cells just get really big and your body needs fat cells
3. Stomach stapling ... people just keep eating and the stomach stretches
4. and the ring put in before the stomach ... I question that treatment also

I believe the weight requirements are for insurance coverage. If you have the cash, you could probably get it done.
Otherwise, how close are you the the requirements? If you just have 10 or 15 lbs to gain you could do it.
I lost 50 lbs simply by getting out of a rotten marriage, which changed my outlook and gave me more energy and motivation to exercise.

No. NO surgeon would do the procedure on you if you don't meet the criteria.
Good grief! You probably don't even need to lose weight. I bet you are one of these women who just HAS to look like a skeleton.
