Because of prejudice and ignorance. Immigrants are legal people.
Illegals come from all the nations in the word not only from Mexico.
By the way, what do you mean with Spanish people? To me a Spanish comes from Spain.
Latin Americans come from many different countries: Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, Argentina, and so on.
Do not confuse the terms.

Becuase this is what we are told to think by the many Hispanic organizations and politicians out there who oppose any type of measure or displeasure with immigration, both legal and illegal. For example, the many raids that are being conducted by ICE all around the country are deemed to be "anti-Hispanic." How can this be when these raids are rounding up all kinds of people from all different backgrounds? The raids are picking up legal and illegal immigrants who have violated their deportation orders or have committed crimes; yet, they are called "anti-Hispanic." Also, who are the only ones out there campaigning fro immigrants "rights?" Again, either Hispanic organizations or politicians. Why don't we see Asians, Indians, Iranians, Germans, Italians, or any other "immigrants" out there politicking?

Because Spanish speaking people make up the majority of illegal immigrants as well as legal immigrants. However, most people don't like them regardless of what they do. After all, the majority of the lawbreakers in this country are Hispanic.

I don't think of Spanish people when I think of the word immigrant. I think of my greatgrandparents, who came to Ellis Island from Germany in 1897, legally. Unfortunately many people are letting their compassion overrule their brains when they support illegal immigration. We live under a capitalistic monitary system. Labor is a commodity. So when cheap labor is continuosly allowed to flood into this country, the value of labor is reduced. It's very simple. If all of the poor are allowed to flood into this country, it won't be long before this country is full of poor people.

Why are you predisposed to think that they do?
I don't.
75% of our ILLEGAL immigrants come from Latin America, 57% from Mexico. However, India is second as a single country. Mexico is our biggest source of legal immigration as well, due to preferences to family.
Very few, relatively speaking, come from Spain.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the prevalence of imprisonment in 2001 was higher for:
-- black males (16.6%) and Hispanic males (7.7%) than for white males (2.6%)
-- black females (1.7%) and Hispanic females (0.7%) than white females (0.3%)
People have to take into account that not all Hispanics are illegal. They are not the only illegal ethnicity in the US. Spanish is a language and not a race. People of all races cheat the government.
