I had a condition called Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome in my left foot. The nerve was compressed. I was treated at the physical therapists office with electrical stimulation. They used a machine with wires and electrodes that were adhered with a fixative to certain spots on my foot to stimulate the nerve and get it to work properly. It was funny but if the electrodes were Put in the wrong spots my toes would jump all over the place. They also use electrical stimulation to cause bulls and stallions to release their sperm for artificial insemination. Please don't ask me to explain this as it is a little gross.

My son has e stim equipment to exercise the muscles in his arms and legs. He is paralyzed from a spinal cord injury. The electrodes stick into adhesive pads that we place over certain muscles. The electricity from a battery causes those particular muscles to contract.
