Do they use anal thermometers on hospitalised patients in India who are undergoing or have undergone surgery (I'm talking about lower let surgery here)?

I had seen a man being given an anal thermometer while I took my sister to the hospital.

Under certain circumstances, rectal thermometers are frequently used. If people breath through their mouths (it lowers their temp)
If people are breathing too fast (that lowers their temp)
If they are very sick (need to get a 'core' temp
If they feel hot, and oral temp doesn't seem correct
If the temp in the mouth is low

We take temps in the bottoms of all age groups, that way we know it's accurate. Only when in doubt, cause we want to make sure we have the correct treatment going. I work in a ER

Ear ones have been shown to not be as accurate, we have compared many times. Also, we have taken them in the mouth and the rear, and have been surprised many times at the inaccuracy of the oral one.
