re install it. The message is that I am trying to install a older version of the software. My original was deleted and does not show up in the listing of programs to delete. I have a disk that will not load. Any ideas to reset the system to allow my reinstall?

I have 2 suggestions. First I would run a search on your system for both webroot and spy sweeper, and see if you can find any old parts hiding. I'd bet when you uninstalled it, it didn't cleanly uninstall because of the corruption. Since your program updated as you used it, your computer is seeing the original as "older."

The most sure fire way to cleanly do this is to run regedit and clean it from your registry. But I would suggest you do this with caution and as a last result, as it is always dangerous to tweak the registry. I know what I'm doing and I've hit some problems with it. If you do this I'd be VERY careful to go through the registry (Edit, Find) looking for spysweeper, and ONLY removing entries that have the name on it. For example if there is a folder that has several entries and not all say Spy sweeper, I would remove ONLY the ones with the name. In theory it should be safe if that is the name of the folder, but I've been burned from this, so I wouldn't risk it. Hope that was clear.

Since you have the software, have you considered writing Webroot tech support? Their product did cause this problem. If my suggestion doesn't work I'd check their FAQ, and if there is nothing useful there I'd contact them.

But you'll be fine as soon as you get the program cleanly uninstalled. Good luck!
