Unless their prophesies are glorifying God, they are to be avoided as you are basically opening yourself up to demonic influences.

What you are talking about are the gifts of the Holy Spirit, listed in I Corinthians chapter 12.
I suggest you read the chapter, and read chapter 13 and 14 while you are at it.
Psychics however are not operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which are given to glorify Christ. Psychics operate under the influence of another spirit, which is an unclean or unholy spirit, and such practice is forbidden in the Bible.
In Deuteronomy 18:10ff we read:
"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter to pass through the fire, or one who uses divination, or practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you.
You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so."
If you say this is Old Testament, you can look in the New Testament in Acts 8:9-24; 13:8-12; 16:16-18 and 19:11-19 to see how these things are treated in the New Testament.
Remember, all true gifts of the Spirit are to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.

What the world calls 'psychic' abilities is a gift. Not necessary a gift given only to Christians. Some people have this and they have it from birth. Most psychic are not really psychic but are just coning people for money. But some really do have a gift in this area. Sometimes they are also Christians, but can be of any religion. It is not something evil as some tend to think. It just is. Most do not talk about it because people do not understand and treat them poorly or think them crazy or dangerous or evil. They are none of those things.

Spirituality is born from a personal occurrence with a divine, psychic or mystical experience of one form or another which inevitably connects a person to All that Is/God/Goddess/Allah/Great Spirit /whatever you want to call it.
Religion is second hand opinion of someone else’s divine experience. I think you will find that religions, and especially fanatical religions, tend to separate and divide people, while spirituality brings people together.
Thank God that Spirituality is on the increase!

Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

I think you are talking about prophecy, which has nothing to do with being psychic.
A prophet speaks the will and words of God as they are told to him from God.
A physic speaks what "they think". God does not come into the equation.
Also, some say psychics originated from the practice of ancient demon worship and rituals.

1 Corinthians 12:7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
