I have two new exteriors doors from Peachtree. On the door it tells how to paint; I paint it and the paint scratches off with a fingernail. We have tried cleaning, priming, sanding..nothing works. Any ideas why?

If you paint it with an oil based primer, you have to paint it with an oil based finish paint. Did you use a sanding sealer?
I use to do woodwork before going into trucking and I have had a similar problem with certain woods, but that was because of the wood being oily, like cocabola wood.
Oak, pine and the usual woods for doors should take the paint without any problems. Clean all of the way down to bare wood and start over using a sanding sealer and let it dry. Lightly sand it and then spray your primer. Let that dry and then lightly sand and spray your finish coats. For exterior, I suggest to spray 3 coats on and sand in between each coat. this will give you a paint finish that should last for many years.
By the way, make sure that the paint is made for exterior use. Oil based paints are usually your best bet for an exterior door.
Ok, now that you mention that they are steel and fiberglass, on the steel, sand it and clean it good and spray a primer and then put your finish coats on it. On the fiber glass door, It should be the same, but I personally would use 2 coats of primer.

Resand the doors. Go to the hardware store like Ace Hardware or True Value or Home Depot and speak with someone and tell them the trouble you are having. They may have a special oil based sealer which will adhere to the doors, and then you can paint them. Best bet is professional advice. Also call Peachtree Co. and tell them the problems you are having. Maybe they can give you some advice on what product to use. Good Luck

I thinks it's the latex. Remove all paint and try exterior paint. Your local Home Depot or Lowes will give you a sample jar of whatever you want for about $1.75, so play around and try a few until you get it right. Good luck!
P.S. Maybe you can try to contact the door company.

i exploit this large stuff that is offered in a shaker can that is easily a self-catalyzing primer -- there's a smaller canister interior the main substantial one which you puncture to launch the catalyst. This makes it relatively stable, whether that is in basic terms solid for twenty-four hours once you are trying this. i've got used it on plastic outboard boat motor covers, on metallic hoods, and aluminum valve covers, seems to artwork properly around the board. draw back is, it costs approximately $22 a can, whether that is properly worth it. that's the final primer the vehicle keep via my abode sells via some distance. flow to a save that makes a speciality of physique/paint stuff, and tell them you're finding for a self-catalyzing primer. It has a puncture tab. If i will discover the kind i'm going to come back to repost.
