I am dating someone and I want to tell my best friend but I dont know if she will tell everyone and my boyfriend is shy and he dont want everyone knowing...yet...should I tell her?

If you aren't sure about telling your friend keep it hush hush.. its just a safety precaution

My first question is why would he not want people to know? I mean it is going to be really hard for you to not share this with your best girlfriend! This is supposed to be exciting news, not a secret, right? I would first ask him about this and explain to him that you dont feel comfortable keeping something like this a secret from your bestfriend, and why is it a problem? Then from there, I would hope that you are ok'd to tell your best friend. I just dont go for keeping that kind of thing a secret unless there is something up, you know what I mean?

Your boyfriend is not telling you the truth. He is not shy about people knowing that you two are dating. Think about it, that is crazy! He probably has one or two others that he also dates from time to time and he does not want THEM to know about you. After he has had you a few times he will move on.

If I were in your position I would tell my friend. it always would make me a bit suspicious if a guy wants to be so secretive about a relationship. if he really cares for you he should be happy for people to know you are together. or at least thats how i see it ..but i suppose i dont really know each person is different. but anyway, i would tell my friends. i would expect my bf to understand that i dont keep things from my good friends.

If your best friend is known to keep your secrets, then share it. I would want to know if my BF had a boyfriend. However, some people don't know how to keep their mouths shut, so make sure you know you can trust your best friend.

You know your best friend better than any of us do, so you know if she's able to keep a secret. If you don't know for sure if she's going to keep your secret than don't bother telling her until your boyfriend is more comfortable with people knowing.

Secrets are actually not very good for health or happiness. Is your boyfriend ashamed of you, or is he afraid because he is doing something wrong? Secrets don't protect you; they endanger you and allow you to be used.
If he's really too shy to tolerate others knowing you are dating, he's too immature, and you should stop harming yourself and him by using him... or letting him use you.

It doesn't sound like your boyfriend is shy, it's like he's ashamed of you. Don't date him until he's proud to be seen with you as a girlfriend. Think about it

It would hurt his feelings and embarras him if you told.
Don't tell her anything until you get closer to him and you are both ready to be a couple in public.
There are some things that we girls shouldn't even tell our best friends.
