bottom end is not a factor in header selection first choice is allways equal length from perf perspective. However stock bottom end says you'll never notice the difference between the two once installed, so opt for the easiest to install and service around (starter plugs clutch etc.)

The bottom end is not all that plays a part in header selection but the best performing header (all other things being equal) is an equal length long tube header. If shorties are all that will fit then an equal length shortie will perform better than an unequal length shortie. Fitment might be an issue depending on year, model, engine size, etc etc

The power difference between an unequal and equal length shorty is microscopic. The Pain In The *** difference is immeasurable. Equals are hard as hell to install, burn plug wires like nobodies business and make plug changes an exercise in futility. If you are going for all out power, go long tubes. for everything else use unequals, you'll be glad you did.
