Gargle with warm salt water. Sounds weird but really works. Also up your Vitamin C intake. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.

You could try gargling with salt water or drinking hot tea or broth. If your throat is sore from sinus drainage, try a decongestant. For me personally, I like to eat really hot spicy food when I have a soar throat. The capsaicin in the food seems to chase what ever the problem is away by increasing the blood flow to the irritated areas and thus speeding the healing. It also has the added effect of clearing my sinuses. If it doesn't start feeling better or it gets worse, go see your doctor.

I find jasmine tea with a bit of honey and ginger really sooth the throat, also if you go to the pharmacy ask for a throat spray, it really removes the pain, but be careful, it is not a cure, just a relief for the symptoms. The most effective way is to drink warm fluids and eat warm meals, get a lot of rest and if you think you need it get some meds from the pharmacy for a sore throat, and try not to talk much

Visit your Dr. I had the same symptoms early this week. Im on day 4 of my Z-pack (5-day antibiotic) and feel great. To comfort your throat, find an herb tea just for that. Slippery Elm Bark is awesome for soothing rough throats. if you don't have that, lemon and honey in very warm water feels good. An old fashioned recipe is to use bourbon, lemon and honey. The alcohol helps to sanitize, the lemon soothes, and the honey makes it tolerable. Small doses are ok for kids.

Try gargling salty, warm water. Do it every two hours. And go to the doctor and ask for a strep throat test. If that's what you have, the prescription will help with the sore throat and headaches.

I don't know if this helps your throat heal faster or not, but it makes it feel much better:

Take a mug of hot water and sprinkle in about a half-tablespoon of salt...let it dissolve and then gargle with it. DO NOT SWALLOW or it can make you throw up!

Other option: hot tea with lemon and honey.

Hope you feel better soon!

My mom always used to give us hot milk with melted honey in it...helps for a little while, tastes great and it will make you feel very good, even though it's just for as long as you drink it.

There is also onion juice...you just cut one or two onions in pieces and put them in a bowl with sugar...it's gonna taste really odd and i can't remember if it really helps but my mom also used to give it to us when we were sick.
It's worth trying if you have an onion in the house anyway, and maybe it's even worth it just to see how it tastes...it's not too bad.
Hope you get well and that this helps you a little!

You can get zinc lozenges from the Pharmacy, they should be sucked in the morning and at night before bed gargle with salt and warm water.
