I had to go into safe mode, uninstall the program and restore the operating system to recover. What did I do wrong?

Vista is not yet compatible with McAfee, so it will not work. You did nothing wrong, it's just programs are relatively slow in upgrading to be used on the vastly different, Windows Vista. If you are ever in doubt, check out the system requirements. If Vista is not listed there, then you may or may not have a compatible program. Some sites have put up patches to fix the incompatibility issue, but I do not believe that McAfee has one just yet. Oh, and to add, Norton does not work either. My fiance tried it on his laptop a few weeks ago and everything froze up, it wouldn't work either. Sorry! Hope this helps.

I did not have any problem loading it, but I couldn't connect to the Internet with McAfee. Some nice guys on this site told me to get rid of it and I haven't had a problem since. It was suggested that I go to avast.com and download the Home version. It was free and you renew once a year. They have other versions you can purchase.

Good luck.

You didn't do anything wrong, Bill Gates did by releasing that crap....

Vista is not compatible with most of the applications like they claim...I kept XP for my adobe apps and use linux for everything else..
