I don't think they should spank a child that isn't theirs. If the child is in trouble one of the parents should go to the school and speak with the teacher/principal whatever and then decide what they think the punishment should be. I think the school should use detention or not letting a kid play sports whatever. Usually the schools have a zero tolerance fighting policy so if a child hits a child they are in big trouble. So how is it ok for an adult to strike a kid. I do not agree with a parent going to jail if they spank their kid as long as they do not abuse their child. I just think other punishments for bad behavior should be tried first.

Spanking is one thing, beating or abuse is another thing. If a child is warned there will be consequences and does what he shouldn't anyway then the child should be punished. There are different types of punishment which work best with different children. Younger children, especially seem to respond best to a spanking. I am talking about 3 or 5 swats on the rear end with your hand.
Spanking in school, especially elementary school should be permitted with the provision that it be done in the presence of the principal and a teacher.
Part of the reason for the high crime rate today is people think that they can get away with anything and there are no consequences. When they are arrested and put in jail they think they are being discriminated against.

I think children should be spanked by the parents and the school should get permission from the parents before they spank a child. I believe spanking and abuse are two different things and people should not go to jail for spanking there kids. Thats whats wrong with the world today no one spanks the kids so they think they can do what they want.

I am not a fan of spanking never was and never will be.
I was spanked as a child for things my older siblings did, received blanket punishment.
What was my motivation to do good if I was going to get spanked anyway?
It sends a mixed message if you ask me.
Do not hit people we tell our kids.
Then we turn around and hit them for doing so.
Might does not always mean right.
Kids need to have more strict consequence for wrong actions.
loss of privileges ie no computer access, no cellphone, no television etc.
Why are parents let alone teachers looking for short cuts.
Getting grounded means someone has to stay home and watch you, are we so preoccupied with our jobs and lifestyles that we can not take time out to deal with our children.
Spanking is wrong disciplining isn't.
Sitting in the corner with a dunce hat on worked wonders when I was in class, way more humiliating if that is what teachers are trying to accomplish.

I don't feel school staff has a right to spank in school. They need to have an open relationship with the parents to let them what is going on with their children. If the child need a spanking (I'm not talking about a beating), the parents should be the one doing it - with love, not anger.

Parents need to learn to tell others to "mind your own business" and let their children know that the drama of society is not aloud in their home period. Parents should not have to waste their time with obsessive people who attempt to live their spoiled childhood out through children that are not their business. It's a fact a child that was raised with no discipline will attempt to seek it well into adulthood and possibly for the rest of their lives. What is the difference between one who takes it as far as jail, becomes a traitor, or one who is obsessive with another's child out of jealousy or monitary purpose .....there is no difference in the behavior. Parents need to draw the line when someone is telling them to raise their child to be terrorist instead of teaching them to grow into a healthy adult. Children have the right to be taught that and should not be used to generate money for any agenda. Consider a toddler who's parent has fallen for the rumor that a child's testy behavior is all about a stage that the parent has to make it thru instead of looking at it a child having the right to be taught the difference between right and wrong.
On the flip side, those parents who are running off to school and whining because their child has to follow rules or has been given a consequence need to grow up because they are no different than the for-mentioned obsessive people. If there is something fishy, as in a child being blamed for something that they clearly didn't do or dishonesty is present then the adults should do the appropriate investigating - it happens, however more often parents need to grow up if they want their child to. Children will do ANYTHING to get out of responsibility for their behavior....and should not be assisted in doing so.
Discipline and attacking someone because a person isn't dealing with personal issues are two totally different subjects - it's the difference between night and day. Therefore, if a parent is attacked by a "child-pro" who is attempting to win a lie go after them for harassment and tell your child their is no difference between them and child kidnappers. After all, stealing a child's right to grow up spiritually balanced is equal to kidnapping a child.

Mine were allowed a paddling at school. In fact I borrowed the principles paddle one time. At home we had a paddle. But my children were not spanked about every nit picking thing. We had other ways of discipline. Another thing I want to ask... Remember the family room, you know the one everyone watched TV together, ate popcorn, and played games? How about the family dining room? My girls are 17 -25 yrs. They know. It's not about age, it's about priorities.I believe if there were more time given with each other again change would come about.

My husband told me that when he was in school they used paddleboards with holes in them--so the child would feel it more.
I would much rather that *I* administer any spankings to my child...the parents should keep an eye out for what's going on with their children. If they act up in school, parents should be the one to spank.
I'm not against spanking. However I know that abuse does occur at school--my sister was in a special education class where the teachers actually had her wrestled to the floor and wound up popping the buttons off her shirt. To make matters worse I think at least one of the teachers was a male.

Teachers spanking students is ridiculous. At what age should they stop? Do men teachers get to spank little girls? What happens if they hit too hard? What happens if a parent comes and beats the crap out of the teacher after? All I can say is God help the SOB that lays a hand on my child.

Spare the rod, spoil the child. If my kids need a spanking they WILL get one. But I never spank them if I am angry, and I do not allow the schools to spank them. If they need it I am only a phone call away. I got spankings as a child and I deserved every one of them.
