I know it's a question asked a thousand times but it's getting a bit silly now in Iraq and Alpha Gee isn't it about time it was called a day or do we need to loose a few more....?

Mr Finance Iraq's gone if we go tommorow or in fifty years the only way that country could be held together was under a dictater as soon as we bail Iran will take over that why Mr Bush aint gonna leave but why should we be shipping home body bags for a lost cause.....
When I served in N.I we had good and bad some places you could have a chat, have a brew even go out at night to a club and have a few beers...Our troops have gone from foot patrol to full armoured patrols, why should the Iraqi people trust Soldiers who can't even walk the streets.......It's a No Brainer!

An extremely hard one to resolve, but think of it this way:
if britain and France had reoccupied the German industrial area after Hitler had taken it over illegally in the 1930's, then the Nazi party would have collapsed. So far so good. Unfortunately, Germany would have disintegrated into a civil war between Nazis and Communists, and French and British troops would have been patrolling them, while Stalin would willingly have given money and weapons to the Communists. Eventually, we would have been at war with Russia. As sure as eggs is eggs, then Michael "Don't build up the Forces" Foot would have been pontificating about how ridiculous it was to get rid of "that nice Herr Hitler": sound familiar? Just think of Claire "The IRA never bombed civilians" Short, and you realise the "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" cliche is true. Iraq is a mess, and will doubtless worsen, particularly when politicians and the liberalistas in the media whip up anti-war rhetoric, strengthening the Nazislamic groups into thinking that sending more filled body bags to the US and the UK will give them victory. (As an aside, I talked with a serviceman who'd been attacked by Moslem terrorists in the 1950's. The British Army simply informed the Arabs that any suicide bombers or terrorists executed after capture and trial would be buried in a "suit" made of pork. The attacks dried up, as it affects their entry to "Paradise" (in reality a Christless eternity in Hell). Nowadays we daren't do that as we would be infringing their "yuman rights").
Believe me, once we're out, the entire Mid-East will erupt, as Islamic fundamentalists see the West (particularly the EU) as weak and ripe for the taking in the name of Allah. Yet the EU and the UN, virtually all of whom are terrified of losing the oil supplies, criticise the US and we in the UK for taking action.
If you think I'm alarmist, look at the state of the Sudan, where upwards of 2,000,000 Christians and animists (ancestor worshippers) were wiped out over more than a decade, yet the UN said NOTHING until the Arab Sudanese started killing non-Arab Moslems and the Saudis complained that this was wrong. Even today the Sudanese forces bomb and raid the Christian/animist south and the UN -- and to our shame the US and UK Governments -- mention only the black Moslems in the Darfur region.
Another figure to look at: in 1945 the Mid-East was 73% Moslem, 25% Christian and 2% Jews and other groupings. Today the population is approximately 97+% Moslem, up to 3% Christian and, outside Israel, substantially less than 1% Jew. Most Arab Christians fled after Islamic attacks, including forced conversions under the threat of death of even (allegedly at least), the threat of the rape and murder of their daughters over eight years old.
Basically, stick it out now or go to war against an emboldened, nuclear-armed, oil-embargo-threatening enemy in a few years' time.
Oh by the way; when Rome attacked Syracuse (212 BC), the inner citadel was opened by a piecenik activist and traitor. The result was the slaughter or enslavement of the majority. Ditto Norway when the Quislings supported Germany in 1940. Think twice before listening to the pontifications of the anti-Iraq war brigade.

My mates who have just come home would rather go back to Afghan than serve again in Iraq! It has more to do with conditions and kit though than the job there. I was in the first Gulf war and we sensed it was a no win situation to stay there then! Has anyone in all history ever truly conquered the middle eastern countries?

In a way, I don't think its worth it, but then again if we leave Iraq now, I think it will go all to hell even more. I wish all the troops could come home cause I have friends over there, but when you sign up you know what you are getting youself into.

Oil Oil Oil Oil. Bush has been in business with Bin Laden family for 3 decades. He started his oil company with bin laden money in the 70's. They had dinner a not long before 9/11. The U.S. brought the WTC down, it was an inside job, to get the stupid citizens riled up for war. How come the BBC World program reported WTC building 7 had collapsed more than 20 minutes before it happened. I kid you not. watch 'Loose Change2' on google video just to open your eyes.

The US excursion into Iraq isn't worth the price in terms of dollars (soon to surpass a trillion) and lives (thousands of American service people, tens of thousands of Iraqis).

It's worth it, leaving Iraq in chaos would hurt us and the middle east alot more. For every negative story in the media, there are about 100 positive ones that take place in Iraq. We are doing alot better then Democrats want you to believe.

I think you need to think...is it better for the world and for Iraq if we leave now, and probably let the country fall into the hands of bad people or see what we have done through. I would go with the latter option.

With you all the way. When the kevlar came back on it was time to leave. Busy enough elsewhere anyway. NI was different, there was always the surf or the fine nightlife of Port Rush.
