If you can go outside to a park, do! They like to swing on baby swings. They like to explore the world around them too. Point out things which you see to him.

Inside...toys. My kids loved those stack em toys, you can start helping him with simple wooden puzzles, those board books are wonderful...they like touching things, feeling textures. They like tasting things. (Don't feed him a lemon just to see his reaction though...my aunt did this to my son and it was so mean! Funny but mean!) If he's not walking yet you can walk around with him. Play peekaboo. Sing songs...nursery rhymes, Old MacDonad, anything! The more of a clown you become, the more he'll love you!

And Baby Einstien videos are marvelous! (Look on ebay for these, they are put out by Disney and so they're a little costly.) But they are worth every penny! Baby Mozart, Baby Bach and Baby Beethoven are all age-appropriate for him.

He'll still probably nap so you'll get some sanity.

And above all, ask his mom what he likes, what he does, what is his routine. As you adjust to it, babysitting him will be easy!

Good luck! They are so much fun at this age!

1) tickle monster (my son LOVED that)
2) if he is old enough to walk "chase" him always go a few steps less then his pace then pick him up hold him in your arms and blow on his belly.
3) put out some of his toys he won't play with you but near you.
4) read to him

If it is only the two of you, you can blow bubbles and he can pop them, my cousin loves that.
