When I try to play some movies on windows media player, they appear upside down. It tells me there is an error and that I am missing some required codec...Advice?

I have the same problem before. And the culprit is ffdshow (When you play a file and then see on your tray an icon with letter like ff, then you have the same probelm). If it is the simply right click on icon and choose flip pictures (or similiar with it) and the image will back to normal. If it isn't then download KLite Mega Codec Pack at http://www.codecs.com/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_download.htm
Start the installer and the installer will find other installed codec. If there found it'll ask you to unistall them. That should fix the codec on your PC. On installation progress, choose the option Reset all setting to their default. After install it you'll be able to watch almost all kind of multimedia files in this world.
