Sometime my right leg goes numb from the knee down. It doesn't seem to be related to sitting or standing, because it has happened either way. It usually stays numb for several hours, and no matter how much i wiggle my toes or massage it, it doesn't feel normal. I do not feel pins and needles, it is just a numb pain. This has been happening for a few months now, and it is starting to scare me.

This is a severe sign of a possible blockage in your heart or in a major artery. It could also be because of a syndrome called "Restless leg syndrome". It is recommended that you see your doctor right away. Go ahead and get your heart checked for possible things like high cholesterol or blood clots.

Blood is not flowing into your toes. In army if I stay guard too long, same time happen to me. So I wiggle my toes in my boots. It help a bit.

Try not to let your legs be stationary for too long. Walk around. Keep your legs warm by placing a blanket over it when you sit.

Look around for some insole for your shoes that has acupuncture effect as you walk. But be careful as you will feel painful the first few days you wear the insoles and you are not suppose to walk too much with these insoles.

There are several possibilities for your symptoms, but you'll need to see a doctor for the correct diagnosis. Sometimes the exam in the office can determine the cause, or you may need to go for further testing including x-rays, scans, and nerve conduction studies.

The tests and exams are painless.

You might have a blood clot that is cutting off blood supply to the nerves in your leg, if it is, this is serious. Because it could travel to your heart which can cause a heart attack. Or you might not, but you should really see your doctor because this is not normal. Hope you get better.

Yes, well it should scare you into at least visiting a medical doctor. It could be the sciatic nerve acting up. But you should definitely see a medic about it.
