The Sony R1 can't record video - just still pictures.
It also doesn't have a firewire port. It has a usb port to transfer pictures and NTSC/PAL video output to view pictures in playback mode on a TV screen.
My guess is that it can't do what you want to use it for.

used a double ended firewire 1394, and hooked other end to a jvc dv deck . it worked. also adapted to hdmi t.v. ....it was receiving above 1080p. sound sync was perfect. used external audio technica on sound

Sadly no, if your intention is to make it work like a video camera.
