The drain is L Shaped. The pipe is approx 3' in diameter. The hole is at the bottom of the vertical leg of the "L" so eventually the pond level will be down to the Horizontal leg of the "L". The hole may have been caused from the constant water flowing over into the drain, dropping vertically, and flowing out horizontally.

If you can get to the bottom of the tube there are waterproof epoxies you can pour down into there to cover that hole. Even hydraulic cement will be a useful filler (and will set under water). Drop in gravel over the repaired area to keep it from eroding again.

You can buy at Lowes or Home Depot a rubber gasketed stainless steel and stainless clamping unit. Kind of a "repair jacket" The rubber is fully circular and about 3 inches in ID and its OD is about 4 inches and its about 6 inches long. So you put that rubber around there and clamp it with that full circle stainless steel band that goes around the rubber and has two or three stainless steel type hose clamps that go around the entire assembly. These are used to patch holes in regular plumbing drain pipes.

Here is why that is probably your best fix. Because what caused that hole is abrasion and impact of particulate in the flowing water. That rubber sleeve is about 1/2 inch wall and it is far better in abrasion and impact than the plastic ever imagined. Something like a car tire that will outlast a steel wheel. It returns the energy, its an elastic memeber.

The rubber will defenitely outlast any steel or plastic patch.

If it's a small crack or leak, use underwater epoxy. If it's bigger, use a patch (another piece of plastic) with the epoxy.
