If everyone says that it's good to have faith in god and talk to him and such.....why do people get called crazy if they say he actually spoke to them? I never understood that. Like the people who killed a man and said, "god told me to do it." That person is automatically labeld "crazy." It makes NO sense.

Doesn't it make you uncomfortable that the President - a man in charge of the world's largest military - says that God talks to him through his toaster? I'd think we'd all be scared to death about that.

[ Of course I did make up the part about the toaster, but if you think that removing that from the story turns it into an exemplar of reasoning, I'd love to see you explain why. ]

It makes perfect sense because God is love. How can you love someone by killing him ? That's crazy.

hahahaaah a oh man. That is so funny. I never thought of that before. You are completely right though. Very funny observation young lady. I'm reading other peoples answers and I'm wondering if I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking if we are supposed to have faith and talk to God, why do some that claim to have heard him speak to them labeled crazy. I just thought about so many of the people that claim to have heard God speak to them.-not that they blame God for why they have done something wrong, just that they hear him. As for people that say God made me do it.- Some may think God tells them to do these things, but not most people.Alot of people think God is talking to them and they do only good things, but are labeld crazy. Even though we are supposed to believe and talk to God. It is completely and totally disregarded when people claim they hear God. And these people are labeled nuts. So did I misunderstand or is this what you were getting at?

Truth is we all know at some level that gods don't realy talk to anyone no matter how hard we try to believe. It's a charade most folks go along with until someone gets hurt. But you're right. Given a God that orders the slaughter of so many people (see Numbers 31), it makes no sense, if you assume God talks to people,tp insist he doesn't tell his followers to kill, given that he has frequently done so in scripture. Some folks just prefer a tamed god that's safe and innocuous and can't admit the notion of a god that is monstrous and dangerous unless it's someone else's god, whcih they will then label a devil.

It doesn't make any sense at all. And if that was the case that these people are crazy then it would justify the reason why these people had these visions thousands of years ago.

People were taking hard drugs like opium.
Drinking out of lead cups
Drunk
Molded grain,oats, bread
Mushrooms
Alot of psychoactives

Alot of religion makes no sense, because all the interpretations, everyone has a different one.

I doubt very seriously God would tell anyone to kill someone.
That's one of His 10 Commandments.

There are mental illnesses out here that cause people to hear voices, have split personalities, etc.
This is something a doctor would have to explain to you.

God speaks to our heart through the Holy Spirit.

The only people who would call someone crazy for saying God spoke to them would be an unbeliever, because we who have the Holy Spirit within us know it's true.

God does not tell you to kill a person.
He is the one who gives life and He is the one who takes it away.
He doesn't need anyone to be His executioner.

However, there are people who say they hear voices.
The first thing said of them is that they are crazy.
Perhaps the voices are really there and the persons mind is turned on in that area. He has a capability to hear whereas the other people can not hear because that part of their brain is not turned on.

As in the case of one who kills because they thought God told them to, crazy is the best defense.

Well it makes sense to me that that "crazy" man did not hear God's voice at all.

Because God didn't speak to him and make him do it.

The guy was mentally ill or demonically influenced. I still can't get over the woman who put her infant child in a microwave.
