Don't be one of those lame girls that flutters around the guy and acts helpless. If you want to meet and talk to this guy don't act like a little air head. Join a group/club that hes in or just say hello to him in the hall. Little flirts only make a fool of themselves. Flipping their hair and laughing over stupid jokes. You only make it easy for the guy to gossip about with his friends (and yes men do gossip.)
So to answer your question. Be yourself, be confident and just say hello!
