My 16 yr old has gotten them since he was young. He uses a medicated mouth wash the dentist gave him and Llysene. You can find Llysene w/ vitamins @ the store. It also helps w/ zits. L

You probably have the herpes simplex I virus. This is very similar to the herpes STD everyone knows about. The difference is simplex I stays in the upper regions of your body. Like your mouth, tongue, lips and all that. The simplex II virus stays in the lower areas of your body. It is the STD.
Herpes simplex I however, is very common and can be picked up everywhere. Not washing your hands after touching a surface can transmit it to your mouth or lips.
Because this is a virus, you will probably always have it. There are no drugs to cure viruses. You have to live with it coming back or hope your immune system can take care of it.
Or you could just have a bad canker sore the comes from bitting the inside of your mouth on occasion.

On" Dr.G," last night there was a chick who died from herpes simplex 1. Her immune system couldn't fight off the virus and in 2 weeks it spread all through out her body, and killed her liver. Go to the doctor and get it checked out, don't play with your health. She got it from kissing a guy who bit her lip.

it could be a strain of the herpes virus, does not have to be sexually transmitted. I have been getting cold sores since I was little. Stress can bring it on as well as sun exposure, poor diet, suppressed immune system, etc. See your doctor, they can run a test for the herpes virus to see if that's what it is. If so, they can prescribe a medication for suppression.
