The prices I have seen are around $800-$1000 for a kitten. If you check around, you might find an adult one cheaper. Sometimes an older queen that they no longer want to have kittens is available cheaper.

Sphynx cats are not hypo-allergenic. I just watched a special that told all about them on Animal Planet last night. They are covered with a downy fuzz, and need weekly baths because they have oily skin. You are likely allergic to the dander, or the cat's saliva, not the hair, anyway. The cat grooms itself, the saliva dries, flakes off and gets into the air as the cat moves. Bathing and brushing any cat regularly will cut down on the amount of saliva and dander present in the coat. I don't know what they cost, but I would search for a rescue site before going to a breeder. The cat in the Harry Potter movies is a Maine Coon cat. These are generally all-around good cats, but are large. A full-grown male will weigh around 17 pounds. The larger the cat, the more dander and saliva that will be present. They have dense coats, too, so require regular brushing, and are not well suited to hot climates.. Siamese are extremely vocal. They will talk and serenade you day and night. If you can't handle a lot of meowing, they wouldn't be the best choice for you. They are also very active. You look for a lot of the same things in cats that you do in dogs. Health of the breed, grooming, and tendencies. Cats all have very distinct personalities, but there are some generalities, like with the Siamese. The assorted varieties of the Rex are considered somewhat hypo-allergenic, because they do not shed. You could probably get on well with a Sphynx, beacuse of their need for a weekly bath. Before you get any cat, I would get the allergy test and find out exactly what part of the cat you are allergic to. Knowing that will help a lot in your selection. Also, if it's something that can be treated with allergy shots, that would open up the whole wonderful world of cats to you! Good luck!

Get in contact with a breeder. Sometimes they have "retired" breeders that are already fixed looking for good homes, sometimes for little or no money. If you wanted a kitten, it might be $800 because they're kinda rare. Purebred cats are like real estate -- whatever the market will bear. Check the CFA website at cfainc.org for links to cat breeders or search on 'Sphynx Cat'. They aren't really hairless, you know. They've got a sort of "downy" fur all over.

Kittens are around $1000 - more if you plan to show your cat. I got mine for $500 from a breeder because she was already an adult and not show quality, which is fine with me because I love her so much and she'd much rather be a pampered pet than a show cat.

I do know that this particular breed of cat is top dollar. Also, it depends on the breeder. You may want to check the internet for breeders in your area.

The price depends on where you get them from. Search the web, sometimes you can find them up for adoption for a small fee.
