Ushers are responsible for seating the lady guests as they walk into the church. They usually do not stand up with the groom. No need to confuse yourself!!

Yes and No. While I've noticed that alot of planner and websites refer to them as the same thing, sometimes they aren't. The Groomsman stand up with the Groom. Now they can also be the Ushers. I've been to plenty of weddings were the Groomsmen seated everyone. Or, you can have the Groomsmen and some different guys to be the Ushers. If you have different guys to be Ushers, they still seat everyone, they can light the candles and when the ceremony starts they can stand or sit in the back. I hope this helped! Good Luck!

Ushers are either male or female that seat your guests and make sure that the doors are opened and closed during the percessional and the resessional. The groomsmen always stand next to the groom.
That is right, if you have bridesmaids then normally there are equal numbers of groomsmen on the other side. Normally for the ushers there are one or two per side that way they can be for both the brides and the grooms side.

no they are totally diffrent. the groomsmen are the ones who walk down the isle with your bridesmaids and stand up with the groom. the ushers are the ones who seat everyone at the wedding and usher up the parents, grandparents, and main family members and guests, they also light the candleaubra if you have candles up at the alter, not the unity candle or the other two that the mothers are to light. they also take down the isle runner if you are using one, the ushers also decorate the car for you to drive away in, and if you choose they can also after the main wedding ceremony (after you and groom walk out) can go back in and let people out row by row or you can go back in the church and do that too and then you can get to see everyone and thank them for comming to your wedding, you can also do this outside the main door and have your wedding party line up with you. Just a few suggestions. CONGRATULATIONS

No. Ushers aren't the same as groomsmen. Ushers can be anybody (male or female) you pick to greet and seat people. If you choose to have somebody do that. Groomsmen are there for the groom and ushers are there for the guest.

Yes and no, depends on how many ppl you want in your wedding party. Ushers are normally the ones that seat and greet ppl. Groomsmen and those who stand in the wedding party, but if you don't have enough ppl to do both then you can use the groomsmen to be both that and the ushers.

They can be the same thing.... but ushers show guests to their seats, and groomsmen are actually in the wedding and escort the bridesmaids... I've been to weddings where the groomsmen were the ushers, but it doesn't have to be that way.

I too have heard them refered to as the same, but i have been to weddings ( very large ones) where "Ushers" were a seperate unit. They greeted and sat people, helped them to their seats. acted like host's for the event that way the groomsmen could be busy keeping the groom calm and in the building.
