I'm on Atkins (semi-maintenance, about 30-40 carbs/day), which, as you may know is about stabilizing blood sugar levels. I also recently made oatmeal raisin cookies (by recently I mean an hour ago, hahaha), and I won't be able to get them out of the house until tomorrow afternoon. Well, I had about 2 bites so far. What I'm wondering is, is it better to eat like 2 cookies all at once, or should I take a bite like once every 3 hours throughout the day so that it doesn't have as much of an impact on blood sugar levels? Please help me out!!!!! I'm craving one so bad and I HAVE to have it! Thank you so much!

Tiny bites are definitely better! I heard that it is healthier to eat food like that with something healthy as well, like a bit of protein? But when you eat small bites, it boosts your metabolism. Eating all at once is far less healthy. I remember on the Biggest Loser, one very large guy only ate two gigantic meals a day, and it sucked for metabolism.

What works for me is- turn the TV off, and go take a long walk (or run, or bike).Treadmills and machines that show how many kcal you've burnt are great- you remember that you needed to sweat for 40 minutes to eat a single cookie, so you're less tempted to eat it.If you still want the cookie after the workout, sit down, get a plate, and enjoy every single bite of that one cookie.
Put the other cookies away, and forget that you have them.
When I nibble on something, I'm not really enjoying it, and I don't feel like I've indulged, but I still get all the calories.

If you're diabetic, that's a different story. If you're on Atkins because of health problems with high blood sugar, I would not recommend eating cookies at all, unless your doctor told you it was ok.

The number one reason for a diet failing is restricting yourself so much that you end up binging. Having a bite or two of something will allow you to feed the crave but not overdo it. Once you've had too much (if you were to eat it all at once) you'll feel bad that you broke your diet and that's when most people give up. A bite or two is a good thing. Satisfy the craving and get on with your day- otherwise you might just end up eating the entire box!

Wow, this is a hard one. In my mind if I was to take several bites throughout the day, I think I would want more, and even if I was to eat several cookies all at once, I think I would overdo it and eat more than Im suppose too. I would think if you have enough control to only take a bite here and there, why even take a bite in the first place?

I think it would be better to eat small amounts at a time. It is possible that you could over come your craving after just a few bites rather than eating a whole cookie or two right away.

I know that when you have a craving for something and have an overload of it, you will satisfy that craving for months to come and the thought of it will repulse you.
