Premature babies are born before the 38th week of pregnancy. Most pregnancies are 38-40 weeks. A baby born as early as 25 weeks can survive but would be in for a rough ride. That is really the cut-off. A baby born before the 25th week is thought to be too small and too immature to survive, although I'm sure there are some out there that did survive. Medical technology is rapidly advancing. Can you believe that 20 years ago, a baby born at 32 weeks would have been given up for dead? Amazing.

Premature babies are babies that are born before thier due date.I have a daughter that was born prematurely.She weighed in at 1 lb15 ozs.She was in the hosipital until she was 3 months old.When she came home she weighed 5 lbs,6ozs.She is now 36 years old and I miss her because she lives in a different state.

They are babies that have been born before their due date. The earlier before the due date they were born, the more health problems they are likely to have.

Premature babies often have additional heart problems because they failed to develop fully in utero.

they are babies that are born before their due-date and they usually aren't fully developed... like in boys.. the lungs usually aren't developed. girls are usually fine being premature as long as they aren't too premature
if you are too premature you usually have to be in the NICU (neonatal intesive care unit)

Or maybe give the illusion they are older than their peers, just cause they got a few months head start.
