when eating hot stuff i always have a BIG glass of really cold milk to drink it will cool your mouth alot quicker than water or soda. I tried water first and then discovered that milk worked a lot better it coats your mouth and thoat and eases the pain or burning.

water and soda are the worst thing to drink after eating something spicy. it only makes the burning worse. Try milk, or bread.

lemon juice or straight cranberry juice. the acid strips the oils right off. water just washes the oils around, so it burns more.
dairy also works, but it's not as fast as acids.
