Lots and lots of praise, make a big deal of it when they use the potty, we dance around, clap and say what a clever girl.
Don't make a big deal of it if they have an accident, just change them.
If it is warm where you live, while you are at home you could leave their pants off, as I think it makes them more aware that they don't have a nappy on and have the potty where they are playing so they can use it easily.
Ask them frequently if they need to use the potty especially if they are busy playing as 2 year olds are easily distracted, but don't put too much pressure on them about it, make it fun, expect lots of mishaps while they are learning.

That somewhat depends if the child is male or female. For a male, try putting a few cheerios in the toilet and tell him to try to sink them. If you make a game out of it, make fun, and reward them, it shouldn't be too hard. Don't use pull ups, it confuses the child. Put underwear on the child. Yeah, it's a lot of laundry, but it's worth it. The child will get tired of being wet or poopy. You have to stick with the underwear thing for around a week. Put a diaper on at night but that's it. Tell em its time to be a big boy or girl and rewward them for going. Just reassure them that you love them regardless. Express that you are a little disappointed when they have an accident. Children hate disappointing their mom or dad. Just be patient and go buy lots of underwear. They'll go when they are ready. My daughter was trainder at 2, my first son at 18 months and my second son at 3. Depends on the child, really. Just remember, they say the longer it takes, the smarter they are. Don't know if that's true though, but it was true in my situation.

We just finished potty training our 2yr. old daughter. We took her out & let her pick her own "big girl" panities. She got to pick her own step stool. And, we got her a smaller "toliet seat ring" that sits on top of the actual toilet. We picked a weekend. Put her in the panties & told her to run to the potty when she felt the "pee-pee" comming. She wet herself a few times. But, quickly learned the "feeling". We rewarded her w/ stickers when she made it to the bathroom. Now she only wears pullups to bed & if we're going to be out of the house for a long time (still learning to "hold it" till we make into the store). Also- potty books & movies are great enhancing tools. Try your local library.

first show them to say when they need to got to the bathroom. Then they go to the bathroom. try not let them use pull ups a lot because they'll think they have on a diaper on and just won't go to the bathroom.
this is what i remember my mom do when she taught my sister.
good luck
