They could give you a ticket, but probably will not. I got pulled over a didn't have my insurance or registration on me and I didn't get anything. He just told me he could. He also told me to find it and put it in my glove box. If you get in an accident without it, you're screwed. You can go to your local notary. The lines aren't as long as the DMV. Andrew

Well if you get pulled over it really depends on the offense and the cop. Sometimes they'll let it slide other times they can cost more than the ticket itself! As to not standing in line... good luck the only way you can get a new on is through the dmv and we all know how quick those are.

well my county has a line of about 2 people, and most likely you know them and just talk while waiting,
I would get one,
You can get a ticket for it, but normally they are more worried about the car insurance, since the owner of the vechile will come up on the tag check they run anyway.
But the registration proves the tag is on the correct car

You would get cited for not having your registration and have to pay a fine.

The onus is on you to produce your car's registration.
If you don't have the rego or have lost it, get the necessary papers asap.
How you do it is up to the country or city you reside in.

Uh, driving is a priviledge. There are responsibilities that go with it, you know.
Take a good book with you, will make standing in line easier.

Usually you can just tell the police that you have misplaced it but ask for 24 hours to provide it.
At least that is true in Canada.
